Welcome to the First Semester at ISSL, 2017 -2018 School Year
Ah-Hoy, International School Saint Lucia parents/guardians, and students,
Our entire staff (crew) have been working hard and preparing for this year’s school start. In many ways, the task might be similar to setting a ship on a sailing voyage. The crew is ready to ‘set sail’ and ‘be on our way’. “All Hands on Deck!”
A special welcome to over thirty new students and families as our manifest has grown over the summer. Day 1’s itinerary begins with an 8:00 am. gathering in the ship’s gymnasium. Introductions and a brief welcome back from the Captain will be followed with all students discovering the passage to their first period classes. They will find hidden treasures and special keys to learning with the help of the crew. Our hopes are that parents have searched or will search through the online Treasure Map (aka.- ISSL Student Handbook) with the students as it will serve as a steadfast compass for a safe and productive voyage.
Student are encouraged to look to the horizon for lunch…. their choices can include Home-prepared Items (fridge/microwave available), New Roti Selections, Fruit Bowls and Fresh Island Juices or Ordering from Lily’s. Passengers are encouraged to plan to be on Ship ISSL over the lunch period as passage to Massey will be similar to walking the plank!
Special attention to an invite for Parents to ‘jump on board’ and help the committees plan a Family Beach Lime Celebration and a Meet The Board at the Yacht Club Night. Please contact our 2nd in Command (Mrs. Lewis), if you are interested in helping.Student passengers are also reminded to start practising their early start to the day. Being ‘ship-shape’ for the 8:00am roll call might be much different from the summer routine.
On behalf of the entire crew of the Good Ship ISSL, Captain Dale Finch
