The Teaching and Administrative Team 2016 -2017
The International School St Lucia values both local and international teaching expertise. Having a global representation among the staff enables ISSL students to experience a culturally rich and diverse learning environment. Because the curriculum comes from Canada, Canadian teachers are naturally drawn to the school but the administration is committed to hiring the best educators from around the globe. All teachers must hold a university degree as well as a degree in teacher training and having some previous teaching experience is desirable.

Principal  Mr. Dale Finch is from Saskatchewan, Canada, and we welcome him as our new Principal. He obtained his Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration Leadership and his Bachelor of Education, with distinction, from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan. Mr. Finch has been in administration for the past 24 years as a Principal, and 10 years teaching Canadian and International students from Kindergarten to Gr. 12. He comes to us with a wealth of experience in administration, including hiring, training, developing teachers, and preparing schools for success in education.

Office Manager  Mrs Sharnna Lewis-Thornille has been with ISSL from when our school opened its doors in 2006. Mrs. Thornille attending the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, where she obtained her Secretarial Diploma and is scheduled to kick off her studies to obtain a bachelor in Business Administration. She taught for 5 years at Kid’s Care Kindergarten Center as a Kindergarten Teacher and Administrative Assistant. She has a passion for dance and when she is not at ISSL, you can find her dancing to the sweet sounds of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Zouk,

Elementary Teacher  Mrs. Marjorie Finch is from Saskatchewan Canada and is our Kindergarten to grade 6 teacher.  She obtained her Bachelor of Education Degree, with great distinction, from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan and has been working in Education for the past 19 years with Canadian and International students from kindergarten to grade 12.

Elementary Assistant Ms Shernice Montlouis is returning for her 4th year at ISSL as the teacher’s assistant for the Grade 4-6 class and also an Administrative Assistant.  Ms Montlouis is a former graduate of ISSL and attended York University studying Law and Society.

French: Mrs Elodie Mondesir is returning for her 6th year at ISSL as our French teacher.  Mrs. Mondesir obtained her Baccalaureate in home country, Martinique, and has her Bachelors of Education in English and French.  She loves languages and also speaks Spanish, German and is learning Chinese.

Music, Science and Social Ms. Shonic James,Shonic James is from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and attended the St. Vincent and the Grenadines  Community College – Division of Teacher Education. Here, she completed her associates degree in  teacher education and obtained her teaching certificate from the University of the West  Indies. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible. Ms. James taught Music Theory and Practicum from 2009 to 2014 and in 2015 worked with Special Educational Needs (SEN) students with reading difficulties from Grades 4 and 5. Ms.James is new to ISSL and love the wonderful atmosphere through the school. This school year Ms. James is focusing on playing the recorder and the piano and will venture out in to other instruments.

English, Social, Health 7/8 Media 12  Mrs Marifel Michel obtained her Bachelor of Arts – Sociology from the University of California, and a Level II Specialist Instruction Credential from California State University. She taught Special Education to students with mild to moderate learning disabilities for six years before joining ISSL when its doors first opened in September 2006. Mrs Michel has been and continues to be a great asset to our school, with a proven track record for her students’ success.

Math, Science, P.E. 7/8, History 11  Ms. Genevieve Sehr holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University in Virginia with a focus on teaching in International Schools. Her Bachelor of Arts degree is in History and Latin American Studies. Licensed by Virginia Education as a generalist, much of her experience has been in Japan and Argentina with English Language Learners. She enjoys working with Middle School students and has an interest in Project Based Learning. Ms. Sehr also completed courses in Montessori Math methods and speaks fluent Spanish.

English, Writing 11  Ms. Katherine Atkinson holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Brunswick, a Teaching Certificate from Simon Fraser University, and a Master of Fine Arts from University of British Columbia. She has taught at the secondary and tertiary level in Saint Lucia, Canada, Mexico, Kuwait and Thailand. Her areas of interest are Literature, Theater Arts and Social Sciences.

Physics, Chemistry and Pre-Calculus Mr Rishi Singh obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of the West Indies (UWI) and a Postgraduate diploma in Petroleum engineering also from UWI. Mr. Singh is from Trinidad and Tobago and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Mathematics at the Open University of Milton Keynes, England. He has taught in Trinidad, the Virgin Islands and now in St. Lucia. His research interest is in the investigation of the Ricci curvature in Einstein’s field equations and hopes to complete his doctorate in mathematics within 5 years.

Biology and Math 9 Mr Shane Glasgow, Mr. Glasgow holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Benedict College and a Master of Science from Ohio State University.  In addition to tutoring math, physics and chemistry, he has lectured in Biology and has teaching experience at a senior level for Physics, Math and Chemistry.

Math 10 Mr. Michael Rene is returning for his 2nd year at ISSL.  Mr. Rene is a former lecturer of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, Castries Comprehensive Secondary School and Odsan Government School in saint Lucia. He has over 30 years experience and has a passion for delivering instruction in Mathematics.

Art, IT, Guidance and Co-op Ms Donna Williams is returning for her sixth year at ISSL She holds a Bachelor of Arts – Information Technology and Caribbean Studies from the University of North London, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Huddersfield in England, and is pursuing Montessori Teacher Training. She has been teaching and lecturing since 2000, and has experience with all ages, from pre-school to mature adults. She describes herself as “an enthusiastic and innovative IT lecturer who thrives on uncovering hidden potential, particularly in disadvantaged students”. Her love of Art shines through in the work of her students!

English 9/10, Business 12 Ms Reiko Jones is returning for her 4th year with ISSL. Ms Jones obtained her Bachelor of Arts – Journalism from Howard University in Washington, DC and has a Certificate in Elementary and Secondary Education. She has been teaching English and History since 2005, and has been involved in environmental awareness through literacy and creative arts, and interactive activities to promote healthy life skills.

In the Halls

Head custodian: Ms. Dorothy Lewis has been a part of ISSL from September 2006.  She is responsible for caring about the facility and our students. She oversees other custodial help, repairs, and security for the building.

Assistant Custodians: Mrs. Patricia Louis and Mrs. Christina Branch help with extra cleaning at lunch time and at the end of the day. They do their best to keep our school environment clean.
